Awesome Stuff for All My Students:

Help Between Lessons

Between your lessons you can text or email me videos with questions about your playing. I'll answer back with a video so you always know what to practice.

600+ Songs On a Digital Platter

I've taken more than 600 hit songs from the 60s to now and put them in a Google Sheet with an accurate chord chart and a link to a recording of the song. Sort by genre, decade, tempo, or genre.

Lessons at Your Convenience

Schedule your lessons online at whatever time you choose. You're never locked into a day and time. If you're going to play for life, then playing has to fit your life.

Affordable Plans for Any Budget

Most of my students save hundreds of dollars a year buying lessons in blocks of 5 or 10. And, the text/video help between lessons gets you a lot instruction for your lesson dollar.

What Kind of Player Are You?

1. TOTAL Beginner.

If you're new to guitar, there are two things I think you should do. First, get to play a song you like as fast as possible. It's powerfully motivating. Second, learn the fundamentals so you have a strong foundation to build on for years to come. I help with both.

2. Rhythm Guitar Player.

I'll help you learn dozens of chord voicings and right hand patterns - then we'll help you master the art of complimenting a singer and fitting in with a band.

3. Lead Guitarist.
I'll help you unlock the entire fretboard, blend major and minor sounds, learn your triads to outline chords, get your fingers playing fast - then we'll put it all together into melodic, purposeful solos.

4. Solo Jammer.

If playing the guitar on the porch or in the living room for your own enjoyment is your thing, or if you want to perform solo instrumental music ,we can get you mixing riffs, runs, and percussion into your chord progressions. We'll have your guitar doing the job of a full band all by itself.

What Students Are Saying...

RJ Maunton

"Dan is a great musician and fantastic educator. He is a fantastic resource for guiding adults through a systematic and effective approach to learning not just how to play guitar but on how to be a true musician."

Jeff Levy

"I've been practicing guitar with Dan for years, and I can't recommend him enough. He's a talented musician, yes, but what sets him apart are his decades of experience teaching others. He's fun and patient, and knows how to push just the right amount to get the best out of his students."

Ryan Smyth

"Dan is an amazing teacher. I still can't believe how far I’ve come in such a short period of time. Dan does an outstanding job of meeting you at your level and giving you a path to move up."

Four Frequent Questions

How long does it take to learn to play?

If you're starting as a total beginner you'll be surprised how fast you can learn to play recognizable music. For most people, that comes in the first month or so, gets addicting, and hooks you for life. I encourage you to enjoy the process. Learn to love practicing and playing guitar will be a brilliant addition to your life.

How much time do I need to practice?

You can do a lot with small amounts of practice time. At a minimum, you'll want to practice about two hours a week and break that into two to seven sessions as your schedule allows. Of course, some weeks you'll practice more and some weeks less. As long as you dedicate a couple hours a week to working on your playing, you will progress.

How much do lessons cost?

My base cost for a lesson is $65/hr. For myriad good reasons, I only do hour lessons. I give 10% or 15% off bundles of five and ten lessons making your lessons as low as $55/hr. Not only that, all students get access to my huge online resource library and video support between lessons so your lesson dollars go even further.

What if I'm not "musical?"

Stop that. Everyone is musical. Trust me.Often what we think of as a person being "musical" is just early exposure to making music. Maybe that was lessons from grandpa, singing in the church choir, or coming from a family that sang songs in the car.Likewise, people who feel they can't sing, keep time, or be "musical" usually didn't have exposure to music at a young age. If that's you, it's cool. I promise music is in you - or you wouldn't be on my website, right?

Come on. Let's do this.

I would love for you to give lessons a try. I believe I can help anyone become the musician they want to be. That's why I've made it easy for you to find out by offering your first lesson for just $20.
